ARMATURE ASSEMBLY MACHINE

MSL-14/16

DESCRIPTION

The MSL-14 and MSL-16 Series semi-automatic machines are designed to assemble armature laminations, shafts and where required the end insulators to form armature cores.  These machines are arranged so that the lamination selection, measure and shaft press are completely automatic operations.  The loading of the shaft, unloading of the finished part, lamination stack height correction and loading end insulators are operator performed functions.

Should double insulated tubes be required, these can be handled in either a fully automatic or semi-automatic fashion.

Skewing of the lamination stacks is accomplished using an adjustable angle alignment key in the lamination transfer car nest that is set to the correct angular position prior to shaft or tube insertion.

Both the MSL-14 and the MSL-16 can be equipped with various options; however, the MSL-16 machine can be arranged with a more powerful hydraulic press system making it capable of handling larger diameter shafts or cores requiring ring staking of the laminations to the shafts.

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION       Station No.

  1. Automatically selects stack from main supply and deposit into the transfer car nest.

  2. Automatically measures stack.  If out of tolerance, operator makes manual correction.  Double insulated tubes, if required, are loaded manually or automatically and pressed into position at this station.

  3. The lamination key is tightly positioned (skew angle is set if required).  The operator is required to unload a finished part from the press ram, load a new shaft and depress a set of palm buttons to cause the ram to extend pressing the shaft into the correct position within the lamination stack.  The operator is required to unload the finished core and reload a new shaft.
